Why a Cellular Home Security System Keeps You Safer

5 Harsh Realities Savannah’s New Homeowners are Facing in 2024

RE: New Homeowners

Congratulations!

Full disclosure, I used to be one of those annoying salespeople knocking at your door. Here’s why…new homeowners are the number one target for break-ins. It’s a crucial time to consider protecting your home and family with a home security system. This article reveals the 5 biggest reasons why today’s new homeowners are getting hit hard, even in what would naturally be considered a “safe” neighborhood.

#1 – Professional Criminals Are Getting Savvier

Gone are the times when burglars relied solely on physical reconnaissance. In today’s digital age, career criminals are strategically leveraging platforms like Zillow and Redfin to target recently closed homes.

The seller’s agent has listed your new residence on multiple websites, and your location is still being publicized. Type your address in Google’s search bar and you’ll see what I mean.

It’s very easy for robbers to create a list of recently sold houses in the area. Be on the watch for anyone who might be casing or marking your home, especially if you’re in a new development.

One woman on the day of her closing said: “They already got me, my toilets were stolen.” Yes, that’s a tad unusual but think about it – an empty house with brand new appliances. Air conditioning units go missing with copper theft out of control. These are big ticket items.

The statistics are frightening.

What’s the number one thing bad guys look for when they canvas a neighborhood? Vehicles parked in the driveway. It’s obvious, right? All of your worldly possessions are in the garage, in boxes. So convenient!

You’d be shocked to know how many times I’ve stopped by to find the new homeowner has stepped out, leaving the garage door open and keys still in the front door. Million dollar homes with a garage full of high quality items on display, and no one in sight.

The worst thing I’ve seen?

When a young child opens the door to a stranger. One time I had a 20 minute conversation with a 2 year old. “Where’s mommy? Can you go find mommy?” If you have a kid you need a camera. I’m sorry to say, most child abductions happen from home.

Am I selling you something?

Absolutely. I’m a 62 year old woman, I’ve seen way too much. Get to know me before you get angry.

#2 – WIFI Security Systems are Completely Vulnerable

As a Security Expert, I must to inform you your home and family at risk using a wifi based security system.

How often does your wifi go out? Did you know most wifi systems can be jammed? Or even worse, hacked?

Do you want the full picture?

Imagine a truck backing into your driveway, blocking visual access to the area right in front of your garage door. With very little effort, a small opening can be created to insert an unraveled wire hanger.

You may not have noticed, but from the inside when your garage door is down, that red manual release cord hangs right in front of that spot. One quick tug and they’re in

Opt in for a cellular home security system so you’ll have reliable protection, even when your power and wifi go out.  Read my story.

#3 – Bump Keys Pose a Very Real Threat

I’ve seen it too many times. Remember, I get the calls after the break in. Please take note.

80% of home invasions happen through a door, so wouldn’t it be better to have sensors in place to notify you (and more importantly – the police) if there’s an immediate threat?

Sure, it’s easy to imagine what you might do, but have you actually experienced a home invasion? Those of us who have will urge you to take the next step. Read the stories.

Suppose you’re ahead of the game and you’ve started searching for a cellular security system. Go to Statista for the unbiased data; there’s one company that’s way ahead of everybody else.

American District Telegraph has been the frontrunner for the past 150 years.

***It’s important to mention here that ADT monitoring comes in many forms. Just because a system is monitored by ADT does not mean it’s going to be the best equipment, even when you go directly through ADT.

#4 – Not Everyone’s Like a Good Neighbor

Some criminals blend in easily by posing as service workers or neighbors. They’re looking for patterns, such as when people are home or away, to find the best times to strike, of course.

For the most part, savvy criminals don’t just randomly choose a home to burglarize. Even the least experienced ones will spend several hours observing multiple homes before deciding which one to break into.

I told you this was going to be harsh, right?  You wouldn’t be here if you weren’t in agreement that having a home security system is a good idea. I’m just confirming your decision.

I can tell you this: for two years I lived in a very nice  golf course community in Rincon, GA.

It’s the perfect friendly neighborhood with lots of families and community get togethers. Happy, comfortable and safe because everybody knows everybody.

During that time there was a murder-suicide, a major kidnapping and a very disturbed individual who thought it was okay to drive right through the 4th of July parade.

Since the pandemic, the escalation of America’s mental health crisis can no longer be ignored. We’ve all learned by now that anything can happen. Don’t be caught off guard.

#5 – Identity Theft’s Easier

Two out of three new homeowners leave their closing documents out in the open, or in a kitchen drawer while they’re moving in. I’ve witnessed it in hundreds of homes.

In fact, a good friend of mine sadly didn’t know his home had been broken into until he realized $30,000 was missing from his wife’s bank account. The consistent, mysterious withdrawals dated back 3 years – to the day they’d moved into their new home.

Safeguarding your personal papers (also found in the box you labeled “office”) by investing in a state-of-the-art cellular home security system can prevent unauthorized access to your confidential data as well as your home.

While cheaper DIY wifi systems may be tempting, the risk you take to save a few dollars must also be measured. If a more advanced security system only worked one time, for the entire time you had the system, wouldn’t you agree it would pay for itself?

The reasons for doing this right are only increasing, not decreasing.

Just like pushing your car into a Jiffy Lube after the motor blew, it doesn’t make sense to wait for something bad to happen before you decide to protect your home and family.

Worried About the Expense?

Of course you are, you just bought a house. You’re not sure of your bills, and the things you need to buy keep adding up. There’s a new fence to build, and furniture. Don’t forget that big screen TV.

I’ve been there, I know what it’s like because we move a lot.

But I can tell you this…

All that stuff goes right out the window the instant your loved ones are in danger.

Here’s the good news.

The very things that make you a target for thieves also make you our most desired customer. Safe Haven Security – ADT’s #1 Authorized Dealer, has a New Homeowner’s Program designed specifically for you guessed it – New Homeowners.

Remember I told you there are many versions of ADT monitoring?

This is not the self-set up version. This is the Mercedes Benz version. All you have to do is put gas in the car. For a limited time, Safe Haven will pay for your system so that you can afford to get the security you need.

Now vs. later.

Here’s why it’s a win-win.

  • You’re just moving in; it’s likely you’ll stay for at least a few years. Most of our customers stick around for 10-15 because we’re partnered with Alarm.com
  • Since you’re a new homeowner we know you pay your bills on time, or you wouldn’t be a new homeowner. We’ll do more for you just because of that.
  • Bottom line, you’re helping us advertise. Everybody in the neighborhood’s curious about who you are, it’s only natural. If they see our little blue sign in the yard, maybe they’ll think about giving us a call.
