Monitored Home Security Systems Reviews

What’s the Best Monitored Home Security System, and Is It Really Worth It?

It only has to work one time for you to know the answer. Maybe you believe nothing bad will happen. I certain hope so, but why risk it? I’ve had this conversation a million times. One homeowner, a retired man in his sixties, stated there was a 25% chance he’d need emergency help. Based on his opinion, he decided a monitored home security system was unnecessary.

🚨 > I would like to counter with some FACTS. Hang on a sec, while I climb up on my soapbox…

Why You Might Want to Consider Getting a Monitored Home Security System

👉🏼 300% more likely to get robbed if you don’t have a security system. (Alarms.org) As if 100% isn’t bad enough. Let’s put this into perspective—when the odds of losing your valuables, your peace of mind, and your sense of security triple, you’re not just rolling the dice, you’re handing the dice over to chance. And trust me, burglars love those odds. Why make your home the easy target? 🎯 A monitored home security system says: “Yippee-ki-yay, burglars… not on my watch!”

👉🏼 According to the National Safety Council, 62% of at home deaths in 2022 were from accidental poisoning. That’s 80,400 people, by the way. Surprised? Me too. Poisoning. It’s unexpected. But that’s exactly my point. It’s the unexpected that gets you. You’re not preparing for it, you don’t see it coming, and when it hits, it’s too late. Now, ask yourself—what else could you be overlooking when it comes to your family’s safety? Maybe the fact that with monitoring you could have pushed a button for immediate access to a medical professional?

✋🏼 Let’s take a pause here, because one of these things is not like the others. That kind of medical emergency response is uncommonly awesome. Just because you have monitoring doesn’t mean you have good monitoring. Don’t fall for just anything, and by the way…

👉🏼 I bet you didn’t see this one coming: falling. That’s right—falling is the second biggest cause of death at home. That’s another 31,400 dead people. Who knew you could die from something so simple? Ignoring the small stuff, that’s the real danger. It’s always ‘someone else.’ Until it isn’t. Yeah, being embarrassed is bad, but how about being dead? If you’re all by yourself and you’ve left your phone in the other room, all you have to do is say the magic word, voice controlled monitoring comes to the rescue!

👉🏼 This third cause of death’s not funny at all. In 2022, there were 1,504,500 residential fires reported in the US. 3,790 dead.13,250 injured. (Check the stats.) Fire experts say you have about two minutes to get out or risk everything. “Children under 5 years of age are at the greatest risk from home fire death and injury; their death rate is nearly twice the national average,” according to fire and rescue sources. An alarm from a monitored smoke sensor alerts the fire department, so you can focus on getting your family out of the house. It’s even more important when nobody’s home, just ask your dog. 🐾🔥 When seconds count, you need more than a beep—you need a response.

👉🏼 That adds up to 115,590 deaths in one year that could have been prevented if the general public was more aware of what home monitored security systems actually do for you. Pretty sure monitoring’s worth every penny, but there’s a catch. 👀  One major weakness almost EVERY monitored home security system review fails to mention: No signal > No alarm > No bueno!

An Unfortunate Trend

Nothing makes me sadder than knowing a Wi-Fi based security system is a popular choice for home security. What good is monitoring when the signal’s been jammed, the power’s been cut, or your kids are using all the bandwidth for Xbox? Worst. Idea. Ever. Right up there with a waterproof towel, an ashtray for your motorcycle, a book on how to read, and an inflatable dart board…

But what about all those other monitored home security systems reviews out there? (It’s like I can read your mind!) Advertising has led most to believe a cheaper system is just as reliable. Here’s what they’re not telling you. Spend your money on professional cellular monitoring, it’s not that much more. I’ve posted a list of companies, guess who wins? Last time I checked, that link to statista.com didn’t give details, so the info’s in the image below. ↓

No one expects to be the victim of a crime, a fire, or a medical emergency. No one expected a lot of things that have happened to us recently.

👉🏼 Be prepared for the things you don’t expect.

A Little Too Close to Home

My youngest son had a scary surprise the day he moved into his new apartment. He was so happy and proud he could finally afford his own place! Until he realized he was sharing it with an intoxicated vagrant. I could hear the tremble in his voice as he struggled to relay what he’d just experienced:  “He was cooking ribs.” Seriously! What would you do?

“I grabbed my sword.” (I’m not making this up, my son’s a collector and luckily one was handy.) It took 45 minutes for the police to arrive. He gave up the apartment, because he could never feel safe there. Those life-threatening moments will never be forgotten. Did you know that 67% of people who’ve experienced a break-in move within 9 months?

A Single Mom’s Nightmare

I met Rebecca right after she’d moved into her new house. It was a beautiful neighborhood, full of expansive two-story brick homes with big yards and tall trees. A young single mom, with a 2-month-old baby girl and 10-year-old son. I knew she’d be a target. Our appointment wasn’t going so well—she had something in her eye and the baby was crying, so I handed her my card and made a quick exit. A few weeks later, Rebecca called me back.

“How soon can you install a security system? Everything you told me just happened.”

“Today.” I headed there immediately, hoping to help calm her nerves while we waited for the tech to arrive. She said: “I came home, unlocked my front door, and walked into the house with the baby in my arms. As I was putting away groceries, I stopped to look around because something was off.” She was clearly agitated, pacing the room as the adrenaline from three days ago was still coursing through her veins. “I caught sight of his shadow, at the top of the landing.” She told me how she grabbed the baby and ran. Thank goodness my son wasn’t with us; I would have sent him upstairs to play.”

The world we grew up in is just a memory now. Back in the day, kids would play outside from sunrise to sunset. Parents didn’t worry about where they were—the only rule was to be home before the streetlights came on. Unfortunately for parents today, hyper-awareness the new norm as stories of  child abductions feel all too possible.

The Numbers Don’t Lie

This should sum it up nicely ~

👉🏼 Statista is a data platform offering statistics, reports, and insights from a variety of sources, including market reports, journals, and government databases. (Because good decisions start with hard facts.)

👉🏼 This graph compares companies that provide professional monitoring using a cellular-based security system. (Because Wi-Fi and security don’t belong in the same sentence.)

👉🏼 ADT has been the gold standard for 150 years, their experience handling emergencies is second to none. (This is what being protected by 13,000+ professionals in over 150 locations looks like.)

👉🏼 ADT partners with multiple equipment providers, so let’s see how they really stack up. Monitoring with ADT is only half the solution—you need the right equipment for it to reach it’s full potential. (Otherwise, you might be putting a racehorse on a merry-go-round.)

Most monitored home security systems reviews don’t look like this, right? That’s because I take this stuff very seriously, and I think you should too. I believe we need all the help we can get so choose monitoring, but make sure you know who’s got your back.
